After applying the quality update on some Windows 10 devices, it could take a tremendous amount of time to log in. (30 minutes or more for SSD-equipped models)
It seems like a rare phenomenon, but once it happens, it gets slower and slower.
As a result of various investigations as to whether it can be done, I will introduce it because I was able to improve the operation by the following method.
Occurs rarely when applying the August 10 Quality Update (KB1903) to a Windows 2020 and Build 8 machine.
It doesn't seem to be particularly model or hardware configuration dependent, so it may happen on any Windows machine.
After selecting an account on the login screen and entering the password, the message "Welcome" remains displayed and the message remains loaded.
In some cases, I encountered it and had to wait more than 60 minutes for a long time.
As a result of various investigations, it was found that tens of GB of files were accumulated in the following path.
% userprofile% \ Appdata \ Local \ temp
Deleting this temporary file no longer takes a long time to log in.
Doing this will reduce the time it takes to log in to each stage.
It was also improved by uninstalling KB4565351.
I was able to improve the behavior with the above operation, but it is still unclear why this happens in the first place.
According to the current information, the movement to check this path at login is performed after applying KB4565351, so if there are many files or data capacity in this path, you will not be able to sign in until you swipe the data. Isn't it?It will be up to that point.
Even if you delete it to improve the operation, it will not be a fundamental solution unless you stop the operation itself where data is accumulated here.
In my environment, I set the task manager to execute the following command at login to avoid it, but if there is software that stores important data in this path, the operation may become unstable. I think there is.
del% userprofile% \ Appdata \ Local \ temp / f
- May occur when applying August 10 KB on Windows1903 2020
- The reason why login is extremely slow is that the data is bloated at "% userprofile% \ Appdata \ Local \ temp"
- It can be improved by deleting the data or uninstalling the corresponding KB.
I think that the KB that will be solved will be distributed soon, but I introduced it as a temporary measure.
